Background and Experience:
Freya’s journey in the hair industry began at the age of 15 when she embarked on an apprenticeship at a salon in Perth. Over the course of three years, she honed her skills and developed a passion for the art of hairstyling. Joining the Charlie Taylor team nine years ago as a stylist, Freya’s commitment to excellence and continuous growth have made her an invaluable asset to our salon. Her extensive experience and expertise make her the go-to professional for all your hair colouring and creative styling needs.
To stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques Freya continues to push and challenge her self with the hair industry. Constantly she is pushing her creativity, technique and talent to elevate her hair knowledge and skill.
She dedicates herself to training courses, and just became a A Master Colour Expert (MCE).
Furthermore, she was the Look Awards Stylist of the year 2018, #NTVA Runway Regional Finalist 19, #NTVA Editorial Semi Finalist 20 and has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Salon Awards stylist of the year 2023.

When asked about her MCE, Freya stated: “The Wella Master colour program is renowned for being the best in the industry and because it is one of my favourite things to do, I wanted to make sure I could conquer any colour correction at the highest level possible. From natural looks to bold bright vivid colours and everything in between. The science behind hair colouring is so fascinating to me and after listening to stylists that have completed the course, I knew I wanted to do it too.”
” The Master Colour Program has given me the understanding of the different hair types and the best ways to approach each of them when it comes to colouring. When consulting, I decide on the techniques/colour formulas to use before starting and apply that to each individual for the best outcome for that client.“

When asked on how she stays ahead of the trends, Freya responded ” Always taking inspiration from the top hair colourists in the industry and regularly attend workshops and courses that they run and bring the techniques back into salon life. There is always something new to learn in the world of hair colouring. I always love looking through the newest Vogue or hair magazine to see what the predicted trends are for the year and can put my own wee stamp on them for all my lovely clients!”

Freya stated, “I am lucky enough to have worked with Charlie on many big projects where the colouring techniques need to be immaculate as they are showcased on stage or photographed for various competitions. This gives me the opportunity to see another side of hairdressing and push the boundaries and let my creativity out in a different way. A recent example of this is I have just submitted an entry into the Wella TrendVision competition to compete down in London if I get selected into the finals.”
* I have been to many creative colour workshops and courses over the years through Wella and have also attended a Bridal Hair course run by the amazing Patrick Cameron. We also have a team building day once a year with guest artists that come from all over the country to inspire us and teach us new techniques.”

She states when with her clients, she “Always has a thorough consultation and make sure we are on the same page about end result and what is achievable in that appointment and how to care for it after they leave the salon inclusive of routine and products.”
